What Is Technical SEO? A Checklist for Your Website
30.09.2026 · By Webixtan
Technical SEO removes the problems that stop search engines from reaching and understanding your pages, even when the content is good.
Crawling and indexing
- robots.txt: important pages, CSS and JavaScript must not be blocked, and the sitemap address should be listed.
- sitemap.xml: only URLs that return 200 and should be indexed; remove redirecting and non-canonical URLs.
- Canonical: every page needs one correct canonical URL.
Check on every page
- Unique title and meta description
- One clear H1
- Correct HTTP status code
- No unnecessary noindex
Multilingual sites
Each language version needs its own canonical and reciprocal hreflang links. The Turkish page's canonical must not point to the English page.
JavaScript and content
Main content and headings should be in the first HTML response. Menu links should be real <a href> links.
